The Dandy Project: Blouson
Wearing: Y-3 blouson, Uniqlo jeans, Common Projects shoes, rings by Nasty Gal, Langoliers and Martin Margiela
The adjustable strap at the back is a whisper of old Helmut Lang’s take on bondage.
The jacket folds into a little pouch made out of a Hurisode kimono print.
There couldn’t be a jacket more suitable for this time of the year than the blouson: the cropped length is a refreshing departure from ankle-length overcoats of three months ago, the tightly-woven tech fabric and the air pocket it creates around the body is perfect insulation against cool spring winds, and the loose, blousy shape from which it gets its name hides the multitude of winter sins one is currently in reparation for as summer approaches.
I was a bowtie fanatic at the inception of the blog, so I thought it befitting to name this little project of mine “dandy”. I’ve since grown out of traditional manifestations of dandyism, but have kept the name to signify a looser, more modern interpretation of the style sensibility. The Dandy Project, a fashion and style blog for the modern dandy, embraces dandyism through the appreciation of fine craftsmanship, finding joy in taking on different personalities through clothing, and dazzling everyone away in the details. DIY projects, personal style posts, interviews, coverage of fashion shows and presentations, and product features are the highlights of this blog.
